The South Australian government has banned circumcision and some cosmetic operations in the state’s public hospitals. […] SA will join four other Australian states in no longer providing male circumcisions for non-medical reasons. Other procedures affected by the ban include tattoo removal, breast implantation, liposuction and reversals of sterilisation. […] State Health Minister John Hill said the bans would lessen the demand on hospital beds and extend clinical resources and theatre time. He said parents who wanted to have their son circumcised could have the procedure completed in a private hospital or private day centre.

What is Male Circumcision?

Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin or loose sleeve of skin covering the end of the penis so as to permanently expose the glans (or knob).
Quoted from circinfo.com

Circumcision is an 600 million dollar industry in the U.S.

Hospitals make money off of selling foreskins to research facilities for experiments that they prefer to use human flesh for, as well as using the genetic material to grow more human skin and such. Lot of money in it in other words. I don’t like circumcision at all. They found alternatives to using human stem cells, why not try and find an alternative for this too? I guess the hospitals like making the millions in cash…

History of Male Circumcision

Circumcision - Ancient Egypt
via unaids.org

The practice of male genital mutilation is far older than recorded history. Certainly, it is far older than the Biblical account of Abraham. It seems to have originated in eastern Africa long before this time.
Quoted from cirp.org

It has been variously proposed that male circumcision began:

  • as a religious sacrifice
  • as a rite of passage marking a boy’s entrance into adulthood
  • as a form of sympathetic magic to ensure virility
  • as a means of suppressing (or enhancing) sexual pleasure
  • as an aid to hygiene where regular bathing was impractical
  • as a means of marking those of lower (or higher) social status
  • as a means of differentiating a circumcising group from their non-circumcising neighbors
  • as a means of discouraging masturbation or other socially proscribed sexual behaviors
  • to remove “excess” pleasure
  • to increase a man’s attractiveness to women
  • as a symbolic castration
  • as a demonstration of one’s ability to endure pain
