Mechele Linehan - The Last Seduction

Mechele Linehan is on trial for her fiance’s murder. Linehan is believed to have followed the plot of the 1994 movie, “The Last Seduction,” to murder Kent Leppink and collect his $1 million insurance policy.
The movie is about a woman who gets her lover to kill her husband so she can collect his money. Linehan, known as Mechele Hughs at the time of Leppink’s murder, was said to be ‘obsessed’ with the film, which lead her to eventually make it a reality.
Linehan worked at a strip club in 1996 and prosecutors say it was there that the story began to unfold. They say Leppink’s body was found in a desolate area near a trail in Hope, Alaska. He had been shot three times after prosecutors say he was lured to the area by a series of e-mails made up by Linehan. Linehan alleged she was in a cabin in the area, but a cabin didn’t exist. Linehan lured Leppink to the area where her other fiance, John Carlin III murdered him. Carlin was convicted of murdering Leppink in April. At the time of the murder, Carlin’s son was underage and could not be questioned. In 2005 Carlin’s son was interviewed and said he witnessed his father washing a gun with bleach and Linehan stood nearby watching. He gave police enough evidence to bring charges against his father.
