When you say Florentine Painter… I ask “which one?” You see, there’re many Florentine Painters. Father of Florentine style is Giotto di Bondone. According to Wikipedia:

Giotto di Bondone (c. 1267 – January 8, 1337), better known simply as Giotto, was an Italian painter and architect from Florence. He is generally considered the first in a line of great artists who contributed to the Italian Renaissance.

The 16th century biographer Giorgio Vasari says of him “…He made a decisive break with the … Byzantine style, and brought to life the great art of painting as we know it today, introducing the technique of drawing accurately from life, which had been neglected for more than two hundred years.

And some fun… Did you noticed the names Donatello and Michelangelo? Names from the popular kids show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but frankly I don’t know which one is who? :) Hey, what’s the connection between the movie: A Few Good Men (Directed by Rob Reiner) and Florentine Painter?

It’s impossible to pass Albrecht Durer

He’s a German painter though his paintings feels like Italian:

Albrecht Dürer was a master of self-promotion, as he began his artistic career at age 13 with a self-portrait. Thus he’s the perfect painter to discuss today, at the beginning of both Self-Promotion Month and German-American Heritage Month.
